Welcome back to the official site of the Flat Zac Classic - FZC II “The Deuce”

Unless you are new to the FZC site, then you already know Zac lost his fight with cancer on May 16th, 2010. Just 53 short weeks after being diagnosed, he went home to be with God. Zac’s impact in each of our lives cannot be expressed merely by words on a page or even the memories we all shared with him. His influence was much farther reaching. Zac was truly one of a kind. His faith, kindness, humor and truthfulness were all characteristics that defined the type of man he was. His legacy continues through his wife Mandy and their children Lizzy, Jake and Luke. We should all be so lucky to become the type of person Zac was and to live the life that Zac lived. We would also do well to be so loved and respected as Zac. He will be forever missed.
We’ve all been affected by cancer in some form or another. Perhaps you’re a cancer survivor or currently fighting it. Maybe you have a family member or friend that has had it or one that is fighting right now. One thing is certain, we all hate it.
On May 8th of 2009, Zac Smith was diagnosed with colon cancer. Needless to say, Zac, his family and friends were left distraught by the news. Surgery was immediately scheduled to remove the lemon sized tumor from his colon and to examine nearby tissue. During the operation and subsequent scans, doctors found six tumors on Zac’s liver, one on his spleen and determined the cancer was present in six lymph nodes. With the lymph nodes removed, chemotherapy was scheduled later to begin once he recovered from the invasive procedure. At one point, Doctors declared Zac was essentially cancer-free. There were no signs of any metabolically active tumors in his body. Tragically, a month later, the cancer returned with a vengeance and in greater numbers. In addition to the existing tumors, additional mets appeared in his abdominal cavity and covered his stomach. Zac continued to fight day in and day out until his earthly body could no longer fight.
